Hanson is an entrepreneur who has co-founded several businesses
with her husband, Steve Hanson. Jean started her career
in retail management and human resources, and eventually
shifted to working full-time with Steve to build their
commercial cleaning business in Boise, Idaho.
After selling
the business in 2002, Jean and Steve moved to Brainerd,
Minnesota, where Jean started a virtual assistant business
and Steve started another cleaning company.
Jean loved
her online business so much she soon decided to teach
others how to do the same by becoming a trainer for AssistU,
the company that trained her to become a successful virtual
assistant.
In 2005
Jean decided to take what she had learned online and start
a new venture with Steve -- a membership website for cleaning
company owners called The Janitorial Store. They launched
the site in September of 2005 and it has grown into a
popular community with several thousand followers. Within
a year the business grew considerably so Jean decided
to close her virtual assistant business to focus on The
Janitorial Store.
Because
of the popularity of The Janitorial Store, many residential
cleaning company owners joined the site looking for more
information. When they didn't find much specifically for
residential cleaning, they asked for more. This resulted
in the Hanson's next business, called MyHouseCleaningBiz.com,
launched in January of 2009.
In 2008
the Hanson's decided it was time to sell the cleaning
and supply business in Brainerd so they could devote all
their time to helping their members. On March 1, 2009
the business was sold, and they moved to the Twin Cities
where they now reside.
